Hapoel Jerusalem, arguably the second biggest team in Israel behind Maccabi Tel Aviv, had announced its decision to play in the Basketball Champions League next season.
With Ori Alon stepping down from being part owner of the team and Israeli advertising mogul Eyal Homsky stepping up as the main owner, the club decided to leave the EuroCup, in which they competed for a number of years.
With this move, the previous long team goal of the club, which was playing in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, seems to be abandoned.
