In Dragan Sakota’s meeting with AEK’s owner, Makis Aggelopoulos, earlier on Tuesday, it was mutually decided that the coach won’t continue heading the team.
However, as AEK Athens announced, Sakota will continue being part of the team, as a General Manager. The team’s announcement states the following:
“Mr. Sakota will assume the position of the General Manager, while he will also remain as the Director of the Youth program. The coach has a major share in the Queen’s successes this year. He was the one who led the team to the championship in 2002, but also the one who led the team back to Europe’s title.”
AEK still has Dimitris Priftis on its radar, while Ilias Zouros is also a possible candidate for the head coach position.
