Brose Bamberg announced that Ainars Bagatskis was hired as the team’s new head coach. He succeeds Luca Banchi (en route to AEK Athens) at the helm of the German team.
Bagatskis last coached in Israel where he won the domestic State Cup with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He previously served as head coach of Lithuanian club Zalgiris Kaunas and Russian team Nizhny Novgorod with which he reached the EuroLeague Top 16 in 2015, while he was briefly an assistant under David Blatt with Turkish side Darussafaka Istanbul.
With Brose Bamberg, Bagatskis will make his debut in the Basketball Champions League. The German League champions have pledged themselves to the competition for the next five years.
