Besiktas Sompo Japan and Martynas Gecevicius have been in negotiations. The talks are moving forward and the sides are close to reaching a deal, according to Eurohoops sources.
Dominic Sutton was also high on the list of the Besiktas head coach Ufuk Sarica but has decided to go with Lietuvos Rytas which pushed Besiktas to focus on acquiring Gecevicius.
The 30-year-old guard played with Stelmet Zielona Gora last season averaging 10.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 35 Polish League games.
Gecevicius played six EuroLeague seasons throughout his career with Rytas and Olympiacos, winning two campaigns with the latter (2011-12, 2012-13).
