After Torun’s yesterday win, three more teams clinched a spot in the Basketball Champions League Qualification Round 3 as Karhu Basket, Nizhny Novgorod and Fribourg Olympic eliminated their opponents.
Fribourg hosted Donar Groningen and won 79-77 after overtime advancing to the next stage with 151-144 aggregate score. Their next opponent will be Sakarya BB.
Babacar Toure scored 18 points for Fribourg while Dusan Mladjan helped with 13. On the other side, Shane Hammink banked game-high 21 points in addition to Teddy Gipson’s 19 but their effort fell short in the end.
Earlier, Nizhny Novgorod managed to stop a huge second-half comeback from Aris and record a 62-51 road win. This victory put them ahead by nine points in the total aggregate score (125-116), therefore, advancing to the matchup against Paradubice in Round 3.
Kendrick Perry scored 16 points for the winning side in addition to Maxim Grigoryev’s 12. For Aris, Lucky Jones scored 15 points.
In the first game of the day, Karhu Basket beat Lukoil Levski 88-79 adding another win in the series and advancing to the next round where they will clash with Nanterre.
Durell Summers led the victors with tie-high 22 points while Michael Moser added 18. Rene Rougeau helped with 14 points. On the other hand, Patrick Rembert answered with 22 points in addition to Kaloyan Ivanov’s 13.
