The first home game of the season in the Basketball Champions League Group A for Ventspils proved to be a one-team show for Anwil.
The guests got the 99-78 and the score demonstrates what happened on the floor. At the halftime, Anwil had a 24 points advantage (57-33) after leading by more than a double-score after the first period (31-14). Things didn’t change in the second half, Anwil led by 25 (85-60) and Ventspils simply couldn’t keep up.
Michal Michalak with 22 points in 25 minutes led the charge for the Polish champions, while Jonathan Arledge scored 21 for the Latvian hosts, but was not a factor in the game.
