Norris Cole flirted with the triple-double by scoring 33 points, dishing out nine assists and grabbing eight rebounds as Sidigas Avellino beat Anwil 105 – 102 in overtime for Round 3 of the Basketball Champions League Group Stage.
This was the second 30+ performance in three games this season for Norris Cole in Champions League. More importantly, it was combined with another win for his team.
Avellino managed to reach the final minute of overtime with a five-point lead following a lay-up by Matt Costello. That advantage was more than enough to give the Italian team the win for the 3-0 in Group A.
It was Anwil’s Valerii Likhodei that forced the extra period with a basket after an inbounds play. Demetris Nichols had previously made it 94 – 92 for Avellino with a putback basket following a missed jumper by Cole.
Costello finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Avellino while Caleb Green had 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Chase Simon had a team-high 23 points along with seven rebounds for Anwil that fell to 1-2 in Group A.
