Banvit tried to come back from a 14-point deficit but in the end, the hosts, Ventspils, got the 86-80 win for Group A of the Basketball Champions League.
Jonathan Arledge had 16 points for the winners, including a crucial bucket that gave a five-point advantage to his team in the final minute. Rihards Lomazs got 16 points and Maris Gulbis added 14.
Marcus Thornton’s 18 points go to waste for Banvit, as does Jordan Morgan’s 10-point, 11-rebound double-double. Ventspils got a 50-43 advantage at halftime and despite the effort of the Turks, stayed in control until the end of the game.
