AEK wanted to honor Nikos Zisis before the Basketball Champions League game against Brose Bamberg. The Greek guard spend the first seasons of his professional career with AEK and he is still loved and respected by the club and AEK fans.
However, due to injury, he stayed in Germany and he tweeted the following message.
“Today my calendar said” “Return to Athens, game against AEK and getting honored by my former club”. However, it’s life which gets to decide and not us. My injury kept me in Bamberg. Still, I want to thank AEK for the respect they have shown me and their fans for their great interest! After all, it’s the intention that counts and honors me. Good luck to my team tonight. To AEK and their fans, I wish our postponed meeting to take place in the Basketball Champions League Final Four”.
