Promitheas Patras proved that they are no fluke after beating Besiktas at home (80-72) for Group D of the Basketball Champions League.
Promitheas became the first Greek team that beat Besiktas in a European competition behind 18 points and 8 rebounds by Rion Brown and also 17 points and many big plays down the stretch by Greek guard Nikos Gkikas.
After a balanced game for three quarters, the score was tied at 61 with six minutes left. The hosts got a 74-68 lead with three minutes left after a shot by Gkikas and kept their distance until the end.
Besiktas dropped to a 1-3 record, while Promitheas leads the group standings with a 4-0 record.
