Oostende started hot and finished the same way for the 88-84 away win over Promitheas in the Basketball Champions League Group D Round 8 game. Defense wasn’t really there throughout the 40 minutes for Makis Giatras’ club.
Tony Meier scored 33 points with five threes and 8/10 from the field, but the Belgian Champions took advantage of the home team’s defensive struggles. They didn’t loss touch during Promitheas’ strong third quarter and were effective down the stretch.
TJ Williams was the visitors’ top scorer with 17 points. Nedim Buza followed with 14, Nemanja Djurisic and Chase Fielder added 11 each.
Dario Gjergja’s club unexpected victory at Patras marked their rise to 3-5. Promitheas dropped to 5-3.
