Thaddus McFadden picked up an injury four minutes in the Basketball Champions League Group B Day 8 match, but Tenerife got the 99-92 (88-88) overtime win against Bonn. The Spaniards fell in a 10-point hole during the third period, but a 19-1 run gave them a 75-65 lead midway through the fourth. Their spurt wasn’t enough for the “W”, but Lucca Staiger’s extra time clutch three-pointer was.
Sebastian Saiz only had 0/1 beyond the arc in the 2018-19 BCL season, but sank 3/4 on Tuesday for a total of 19 points. Tim Abromaitis overtime points gave him a total of 16, Colton Iverson and Javier Beiran added 15 points each. Josh Mayo’s 25 points weren’t enough for the Germans, Martin Breunig added 19.
Txus Vidorreta’s team got back on the Champions League win column and climbed up to 7-1. The home team fell to 3-5.
