SIG Strasbourg gambled away the early lead but proved to be better in the crunch time and got away with an 81-73 home win against Petrol Olimpija on Day 8 of Basketball Champions League.
Youssoupha Fall led the winning charge with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds while Mardy Collins notched 18 in addition to Jérémy Nzeulie’s 13 points. For Olimpija, Issuf Sanon scored 14 and Roko Badzim 13 points.
Strasbourg was ahead 32-18 early in the second quarter but Olimpija softened the blow by halftime (43-37). The game stayed balanced with the lead switching sides (70-67) but Strasbourg made a crucial 5-0 run (79-71) near the end which was enough to secure the game.
Strasbourg improved to 5-3 while Olimpija now holds a 1-7 record at the bottom of Group D.
