Nizhny Novgorod achieved a 92-71 away victory against Avellino in the Basketball Champions League Group A Round 8 match. The Russians neutralized their opponents’ home court advantage and totally cornered BCL’s best offense on Wednesday.
The visitors created a two-digit lead from the first quarter and only built on it the rest of the way. Ivan Strebkov stole the show by scoring 27 points in 18 minutes.
Norris Cole, the marquee star of the hosts, was kept in check with 11 points and six assists. Demetris Nichols had 25 points and 11 rebounds, but he was not a factor in the game.
Stebkov who averaged 10 points per game before this contest, took 22 shots and made ten of them for a total of 29 points and six rebounds.
Zoran Lukic’s team away win created a 4-4 record and dropped Nenad Vucinic’s club to 5-3.
