Umana Reyer Venezia took over the lead in front of the final period and managed to hold on for a 70-69 road win against UNET Holon on Day 9 of Basketball Champions League. Both teams now stand at a 6-3 record in Group B.
Deron Washington led the victors with 20 points while MarQuez Haynes added 16 in addition to Mitchell Watt’s double-double of ten points and 14 rebounds.
For Holon, DeQuan Jones nailed game-high 26 points and Corey Walden followed with 20. Darion Atkins helped with a double-double by scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 boards.
Holon had an early 15-6 lead and after a few ups and downs went on the halftime with a 41-34 advantage. Venezia, however, took over the lead at the end of the third quarter (56-54) and managed to stay ahead until the end securing the win.
