Colton Iverson helped Iberostar Tenerife ward off Fribourg Olympic’s big comeback and register a 72-66 road win on Day 10 of Basketball Champions League. With this win, Tenerife improved to 9-1 and is the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs while Fribourg stayed at two wins (2-8) in Group B.
Iverson nailed 23 points (11-15 from the field) for the winning side along with 11 rebounds while Javier Beiran helped with 13 points in addition to Pierre-Antoine Gillet’s 11.
For Fribourg, Dusan Mladjan scored 17 while Babacar Toure dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards while Justin Roberson added 12 points.
Tenerife was ahead 18-13 after the first quarter and increased the advantage to 38-28 at halftime. They kept going after the break hitting the 19-point margin (55-36) and although Fribourg came back and got dangerously close near the end (65-63), Tenerife managed to keep their cool and get away with a win.
