Eurohoops confirmed Radio Bamberg information on Bamberg’s decision to fire Ainars Bagatskis. The German club’s home loss to RASTA Vechta on Saturday is going to the head coach’s last game. Bamberg is expected to announce its decision on the 51-year-old Latvian’s fate tonight (14/1).
The Basketball Champions League team isn’t performing according to its known standards from the beginning of the 2018-19 season. It’s 7-3 in the BCL Regular Season after a four-game winning streak, but sits in easyCredit BBL’s fifth place with three defeats in the last four games.
Bagatskis took over last June signing a two-year contract. However, the disappointing loss to Vechta proved to be the final straw between him and the German team.
Speculation on Bamberg’s next coach has already begun. Assistant coach Federico Perego is a possible interim solution, but no decision has been taken yet.
