A tale of two halves or maybe of 1.5 and 2.5 portions was told in Akatlar Arena on Tuesday. Besiktas overpowered Promitheas, 96-74, despite falling in a 12-point hole in the first half.
The visitors got the ball in the paint on their way to a 37-25 lead midway through the second quarter. However, team defense and some Ivan Buva buckets changed the Basketball Champions League Group D Gameday 11’ fate.
The 27-year-old Croatian center ended up with 14 points and eight rebounds. Phil Pressey, who averaged 5.6 points in the Regular Season, scored a game-high 17 points with 5/7 beyond the arc.
Nikos Gkikas’ absence was surely a problem for Promitheas despite Dimitrios Katsivelis ten early points. Terell Parks got a team-high 11 points.
Dusko Ivanovic’s team improved to 6-5, secured the tiebreaker over the Greeks and erased their opponents’ Gameday 11 clinching scenarios. Makis Giatras’ club threw away its two-game winning streak and fell to 7-4.
