The first win of the Basketball Champions League playoffs belonged to Nizhny Novgorod as they recorded a 95-72 home win over Umana Reyer Venezia.
Kendrick Perry was on fire as he nailed BCL season-high 34 points while shooting 5-10 from deep and adding six assists and two rebounds. Anton Astapkovich followed with 19 and Ian Hummer with 12 points.
For Venezia, Michael Bramos scored 17 and Mitchell Watt 13 points.
The Russian team can certainly breathe a bit easier while waiting for the rematch which will be played in seven days (12/5) in Italy as Venezia tries to recover from a 23-point deficit in front of the home crowd.
