Tenerife was in need of a 13-point win in order to advance in the Basketball Champions League quarterfinals and in the end, prevailed by 22 (79-57) over Promitheas Patras.
The hosts got a 27-14 lead by the end of the first period, the soon became a double-score (32-16) and a 44-23 halftime lead. They never looked back after that. Sebastian Saiz and Tim Abromaitis with 13 points and Nicolas Brussino who scored 12 led the charge.
Promitheas couldn’t react, shooting just under 30% from the floor as the pressure was simply too much for the Greek team who were newcomers in any European competition. Rion Brown scored 20 points for the guests, but it was far from enough.
