ANTWERP: Following Segafredo Virtus Bologna’s win over Brose Bamberg in the first of the two Basketball Champions League Semifinals, Sasa Djordjevic pointed out: “This was an awesome night for Segafredo Virtus Bologna, my players and my staff, but we have to forget and think about what is next.”
Defense was certainly the key for the defensive side on Friday and the 51-year-old head coach explained: “Defense can give you titles, offense can just win games. European basketball and this competition is based on defense. Defense is one of the strong points of this team. We had to emphasize it on the court.”
On the losing side, Federico Perego said: “They just worked better than us. Our regret is that sometimes we didn’t play as a team. We made just 17 buckets from the field, not scoring put some anxiety on the players,”
His player, Bryce Taylor, added: “Bologna played a solid game, better than us obviously. We have to keep our heads up high and get ready to play on Sunday.”
