ANTWERP – If there’s a player who is currently synonymous with the Basketball Champions League, then his name is Kevin Punter. After scoring 26 points in the final against Iberostar Tenerife, the star of Segafredo Virtus Bologna won the Final Four MVP award.
It was only natural for the player who is the all-time top scorer in the BCL history (706), the BCL playoffs (181), the Final Fours (79) and in the BCL Finals (42) and also the first player who has won the trophy twice.
He did also last season, as a member of AEK BC. “I was speechless after the game, it was great and it was really emotional”, Punter said. “This year was different. We had a lot of ups and down. The media doubted us, we had a coaching change. But I credit my teammates for holding it together and in the end, we came together at the right moment. Coach Djordjevic made us stick together when we needed it”.
