Assem Marei signed a two-year contract with Brose Bamberg, the German club announced on Sunday. The 27-year-old Egyptian power forward will return to the Basketball Champions League and the easyCredit BBL.
Last season saw Marei compete in the Turkish Super Ligi and the FIBA Europe Cup with Pinar Karsiyaka. He averaged 17.9 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per BSL match, notched 13.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per Europe Cup game.
The son of an International Egyptian basketball athlete that made it to the 1984 Olympic Games previously played for medi Bayreuth between 2016 and 2018. Marei’s first German stint included his BCL debut.
“I enjoyed two great years in Bayreuth and am happy to return” he admitted upon signing and added: “We can do a lot this season, because we have a team full of fighters.”
