Welcomed by FIBA Secretary General, Andreas Zagklis, the first workshop of the season was attended by Head Coaches of the teams that qualified directly to the Regular Season. The meeting covered diverse subjects and served the purpose to create a forum where opinions can be discussed, experiences shared, evaluations and suggestions collected, as championsleague.basketball informs.
“It is a great pleasure to welcome our Head Coaches here in Mies for the first-ever Head Coaches meeting,” said Patrick Comninos, CEO of the Basketball Champions League. “As a truly inclusive event, the Basketball Champions League is a competition organized by and for the clubs, and our constant aim is to service them at the highest level. I am delighted by the opportunity to discuss and grasp the opinion of our Head Coaches, which will certainly help us to develop our competition further,” he said.
An assessment shared by the participating coaches. “This workshop gives us a global vision of the competition and its challenges. We are obviously informed, but it’s an opportunity to go further. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other coaches, as we don’t often get the chance to talk to them. We shake hands before and after the game, we exchange a few words, but it remains superficial. This workshop gives us the opportunity to have a real discussion with the coaches we don’t really know, which is really constructive,” said Vincent Collet, Head Coach of SIG Strasbourg and recent third-place finisher with France at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
