The Basketball Champions League and Canal+ have reached a two-year extension for the French broadcaster to carry full coverage of the Basketball Champions League, running each season from October to May.
With this agreement, Canal+ will provide its viewers the opportunity to follow the upcoming European journey of JDA Dijon, Elan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez and SIG Strasbourg.
Basketball Champions League CEO Patrick Comninos endorsed the partnership with Canal+. “It is a great pleasure for us to announce the extension of the agreement with Canal+, a leading broadcaster group in France and in Europe,” he said. “The Basketball Champions League exposure will be maximised thanks to the extensive offer of Canal+ channels, and we are glad to see the Basketball Champions League solidifying its presence through top-level digital coverage. This broadcast agreement also complements the contribution of Canal+ to basketball, offering the best of its experience to its viewers.”
“CANAL+ is delighted to pursue its Basketball Champions League partnership along with the Basketball Champions League. CANAL+ subscribers would be able to follow live on CANAL+ channels all the French team matches during the entire competition,” said Thierry Cheleman, CANAL+ Head of Sports. “CANAL+ has a great history with Basketball, as recently evidenced by our broadcast of the FIBA World Cup last summer in China where French basketball national team performed very well. We wish the best to the three French teams involved in the BCL: Strasbourg, Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Dijon,” he said.
The action tips off on October 15 and concludes with the Final Four, scheduled for May 1-3, 2020.
