Iberostar Tenerife started their fourth Basketball Champions League season strong with a convincing 81-67 home win over Nizhny Novgorod in Group C.
Giorgi Shermadini banked 24 points and nine rebounds while Marcelinho Huertas helped with 13 in addition to Dani Diez and Sasu Salin’s nine points each.
For Nizhny, Darrlyn Willis scored 17 points followed by Anton Astapkovich’s 13 and Evgenii Baburin’s 11 points.
Tenerife was up 24-14 after ten minutes but the guest cut the gap to 37-34 by halftime. However, the Spaniards didn’t let them go any further and improved the lead to 63-54 at the end of the third and sealed the deal in the fourth quarter.
