Playing at home for the first time in the Basketball Champions League, Falco Szombathely beat PAOK, 76-66.
Zoltan Perl poured a game-high 23 points, also tallied 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Szilard Benke followed with 15 points and Quinton Hooker ended up with 10 points, 8 boards and 5 dimes to his name.
The hosts quickly recovered from a 9-point deficit in the first quarter and went from power to power down the stretch for the “W” in Tuesday’s Group D tilt at the Savaria Arena.
Kostas Flevarakis’ team was held to 8/27 from three-point range, but remained in touch until the final minutes. Adam Smith’s team-high 13 points were not ultimately enough.
The Regular Season Round 2 game at Szombathely brought Gasper Okorn’s side to 1-1 and dropped the visitors to 0-2.
