AEK BC needs to boost its roster and two Basketball Champions League defending champs are on the club’s sights.
AEK is negotiating with Mario Chalmers and Yannick Moreira. A guard is expected to be released by the current roster, and Chalmers will replace him.
The 33 years old Chalmers won the Basketball Champions League last year, as a member of Virtus Bologna, having Moreira as a teammate. Chalmers has won two NBA championship titles in 2012 and 2013 with the Miami Heat, and he was also an NCAA champion with Kansas in 2008.
As for Moreira, he is expected to replace Serb Stefan Jankovic.
However, while AEK is near a deal with Chalmers, Moreira has also an offer from another Greek club, Peristeri BC, which also competes in the Basketball Champions League.
That’s why contrary to Chalmers; the negotiations are not finalized yet between AEK and Moreira, who may end up also in Athens, but for a different club.
Greek newspaper “Sportime” reported first the upcoming deal with Chalmers and AEK BC.
