Braian Angola took over and led Filou Oostende to a 105-103 double-overtime win at home against Polski Cukier Torun in Basketball Champions League. Oostende improved to 3-4 compared to Torun’s 1-6 record in Group A.
Angola banked game-high and career-high 33 points including the last five points of the game as well as the steal and dunk which put Oostende – which finished the game on an 8-0 run – ahead and set the final score.
Simon Buysse, Dusan Djordjevic and Shevon Thomspon scored 16 each. Thompson also grabbed 17 boards while for Torun, Chris Wright nailed 31 points in addition to Keith Hornsby’s 23 and Alade Aminu’s 18 points.
Torun started off stronger and was ahead 24-19 after ten minutes as well as 40-35 at halftime. They improved the lead to 13 points (65-52) in the third quarter but Oostende made a 19-5 run to take the lead (73-72).
The game went down to the wire and eventually to double-overtime as Torun both times came back from behind and thanks to Hornsby and Wright forced extra five minutes twice. However, although Torun was up by six (103-97), Oostende took over and made a comeback to take the win.
