Mornar Bar won four straight in all competitions and it seemed as though they might be able to challenge Iberostar Tenerife in Spain, but the hosts dominated the game for a 91-61 win.
Tenerife has nothing to worry about standing at the top of Group C with 8-1 while Mornar’s hopes of reaching the Basketball Champions League playoffs got set back as they stay at two wins (2-7).
Giorgi Shermadini led the way with game-high 22 points on 9-12 shooting while also adding eight rebounds, two steals and a block in just over 18 minutes of play. Santi Yusta added 13 and Marcelinho Huertas 12 points.
Huertas also dished nine assists while for Mornar, Derek Needham was the only double-digit scorer with 11 points.
The Spaniards were off furiously from the start leading 33-16 after ten minutes and 54-30 at halftime. They didn’t allow any slip-ups as Mornar couldn’t get closer than a 20-point margin (70-50) and Tenerife closed the game in a convincing manner.
