Mutual “divorce” for Dusko Ivanovic and Besiktas Sompo Sigorta, according to Eurohoops sources. The 62-year-old Montenegrin head coach is resigning after discussing his future with the Turkish club and the management’s request for separation.
The official announcement is expected within the coming hours. Saturday’s Super Ligi loss to Pinar Karsiyaka will be his last game as head coach of the black-and-white outlet.
Next stop may be KIROLBET Baskonia that recently parted ways with Velimir Perasovic and handed the interim head coach responsibilities to Ivanovic’s former assistant Josep Maria Berrocal.
Aside his potential third tenure with the team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the experienced boss has coached Khimki Moscow Region, Panathinaikos and Barcelona in Europe’s premier club competition.
He took over Besiktas before the 2018-19 season. Since clinched 2019 Basketball Champions League and BSL playoffs berths, this season guided his side to 3-6 in BCL and 5-8 in the Turkish league.
