Besiktas made a crucial 10-0 run in crunch time and held on for an 80-76 home win over Telekom Baskets Bonn in Basketball Champions League.
With this win, Besiktas stayed alive in the playoff race improving to 4-6 while Bonn now holds a 6-4 record and the German squad’s first place in Group D might be compromised with Dijon on their backs.
Toddrick Gotcher led the charge with 20 points on 8-10 shooting while Ismet Akpinar added 14 in addition to Burak Yildizli and Shaquielle McKissic’s 11 points each.
For Bonn, Anthony DiLeo made things happen with 18 points on 7-8 shooting along with seven assists. Martin Breunig scored 16 and Branden Frazier ten points.
The first quarter was completely balanced as Besiktas had a minimal 16-15 lead while Bonn led 40-38 at halftime. Neither team could make a significant advantage in the second half either. Besiktas was up 61-59 at the end of the third quarter but made a 10-0 run at the five-minute mark which propelled them to victory.
