Luka Doncic returned to action in Slovenia’s comfortable 90-71 win over Italy in Trieste. The last time the Slovenian point guard competed for his national team Tokyo Games. And once again he delivered, even if he didn’t have to do much.
He finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, with one of them stealing the show. Attacking from the corner, he appeared that he was moving for a layup and when he was surrounded by three Italian defenders he passed the ball backward for an open three.
Slovenia’s captain Goran Dragic added 11 points, while Tomas Woldetensae with 13 points was the top scorer of Italy, while Achille Polonara added 12 points and 10 assists for a roster that was missing key players.
Slovenia has two upcoming crucial official games for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers against Croatia n Ljubljana on June 30th and on July 3rd against Sweden in Stockholm.
