FIBA updated its World Ranking after the 2024 Paris Olympic tournament, with Team USA retaining the top spot thanks to their gold medal.
However, the rest of the ranking saw several changes, with Serbia jumping two spots to claim the No. 2 position, overtaking Germany, the team they defeated for the bronze in Paris.
Silver medalists France moved up five spots to fourth, propelled by their success at the Olympics.
Canada also climbed two spots to take the No. 5 position in the rankings, ahead of Spain, who fell four spots to sixth.
With victories in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, Greece and Puerto Rico each moved up one spot, with Greece rising to 13th and Puerto Rico to 15th.
South Sudan had the only double-digit leap among the Top 50. Their first-ever Olympics brought them their first win in the competition during their debut game, resulting in a jump from 34th to 23rd in the FIBA World Ranking. They are now the top-ranked African team, overtaking Côte d’Ivoire.
