The Serbian basketball federation officially denied today the reports of Serbian media about the danger of Belgrade losing one of the three pre-Olympic tournaments.
The federation issued a press release that includes the following “FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann during discussions with the representatives of the federation said that he hopes that stories about FIBA considering revoking the pre-Olympic tournament from Belgrade will no longer appear. This puts an end to all the rumors which have appeared in public and now it is up to us just to extract maximum benefit from organizing the tournament”.
As for the meeting “it was devoted to the situation with the participation of teams from the region in the FIBA Champions League. In the following days we will hold a meeting with the participants in the ABA league, in order to reach a common position, accepted both by the clubs, the fedeation and FIBA”.
