The Board of FIBA Europe which convened in Istanbul, Turkey on Monday debated a number of issues and took some decisions with regards to EuroCup Women, the European Youth Championships of 2017 and the bidding process for FIBA EuroBasket Women 2019.

The Board has approved the proposal to have 40 or even 48 clubs competing in the EuroCup Women Regular Season, up from the current 32, based on increased interest by clubs around Europe to participate.

The final number will always be determined based on the number of registrations received prior to the season and the competition structure.

With regard to the FIBA EuroBasket Women 2019 bid, the Board have decided to open the process for potential bidders in the following weeks by asking National Federations to send letters of interest in organising the event.

Formal bids and venue evaluations will take place between December 2016 and February 2017 and the Board is expected to decide the hosts before the end of July 2017.

The Board has also approved the organisers of the 2017 European Youth Championships as follows
