Tamir Blatt, son of coach David Blatt, flirted with the triple-double with 27 points, 13 assists and 8 rebounds in 34:22 as Israel made the 2/2 in the tournament following a victory over Lithuania.
Apart from making buckets at will, the 20-year-old point guard of Hapoel Holon showed exceptional playmaking skills in both “5 vs 5” and transition attacks, pretty much controlling his team’s offense with the maturity and intelligence of a veteran floor-general.
While Blatt’s star was burning on the court, the players of the Turkish national team shined bright outside of it. After Iceland’s Kari Johnsson suffered what was sadly proven to be a tournament-ending injury, they helped carrying him to the ambulance offering strong sportsmanship lessons.
