Per fiba.basketball:

FIBA received further confirmation today that its Social Media platforms are among the best of all Olympic Sports Federations.

With Global advisory firm Burson Cohn & Wolfe Sports Practice reporting Monday on the effectiveness of the Social Media engagement of the federations, FIBA was the only one outside of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be featured in the Top 4 in the most followed category of all of six social networks analyzed by the study.

The analysis takes into consideration Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Periscope and LinkedIn. The IOC has 36 million+ followers, FIFA 33 million+ followers and FIBA 9 million+ followers (@FIBA + @FIBA3x3).

The analysis does not take into account Chinese Social Media networks like WeChat or Weibo where FIBA has 3 million+ followers and was recognized as one of its 10 most influential sports organizations for 2018.

The findings of the study, which analyzes the Social Media footprint of the 42 Olympic Winter and Summer Sports governing bodies, shows that, among the top Social Media leaders, football (soccer), basketball, rugby and cycling have the largest Social Media fan bases.

97 institutional Twitter accounts, 60 Facebook pages, 56 Instagram accounts and 51 YouTube channels were included and analyzed in this ranking.

FIBA remains one of the most followed, active and engaging federations.
