As the only candidate for the position of President of the Northern Macedonian Basketball Federation and with a maximum of 27 votes from the present members of the Assembly, Pero Antic was elected as the new President, the Federation announced Wednesday.
“Of course I’m happy, but frankly, I’m a little bit strange in this role. I have already said, my idea is to make a strong team of athletes and people from the business sector and all together to work for basketball, restoring optimism when talking about this sport. There are many priorities, from the development of the youth basketball to the reinforcement of the league and the return of the national team where we wish to be – a regular participant in the big competitions”, commented the newly-elected President.
Antic said goodbye to courts in early 2019 after running his last campaign with Crvena Zvezda last year. A farewell game with the participation of Luka Doncic, Al Horford and Zeljko Obradovic is set to take place in Skopje, though the details of the event are still pending.
