Kenan Sipahi has signed with Casademont Zaragoza, the team announced Wednesday.
A couple of days ago, the Aragonese team had confirmed a right knee injury for Omar Cook. The experienced point guard will be sidelined for the next three months. He had joined Zaragoza in July following his 2020-21 stint at Hereda San Pablo Burgos.
Sipahi, 26, last played for Fenerbahce Beko. He averaged 1.6 points per Turkish Airlines EuroLeague match, 3.3 points per Playoffs contest in Turkey’s BSL, and 7.1 points per appearance in the Regular Season of the Turkish League in his second Fener stint.
The Turkish point guard carries the experience of 57 EuroLeague games between Fenerbahce and Pinar Karsiyaka. He has also made his way to 42 appearances in the Basketball Champions League as a member of Besiktas. Up next, the FIBA Europe Cup. His new team will be up against UnaHotels Reggio Emilia, Avtodor Saratov, and Hapoel Gilboa Galil in Regular Season Group D of the 2021-22 edition of the club continental tournament.
Sipahi also spent three years at Tofas Bursa before jumping to Fenerbahce in 2013. He moved to Karsiyaka for 2015-16 prior to a three-year stint at Besiktas.
His move to Zaragoza additionally marks his return to Spain’s ACB. He joined Sevilla in 2019-20 for his lone season outside Turkey. His abroad experience generated 7.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per contest.
Zaragoza will bump into Baxi Manresa at home to start the 2021-22 ACB Regular Season on Sunday, 19 November. The Europe Cup opener comes up on October 13 with Avtodor visiting the Pabellon Principe Felipe.
