Dinamo Sassari grabbed a 94-89 victory over UNET Holon on the road riding its strong fourth quarter showing. Texas A&M – Corpus Christi alumni Rashawn Thomas sank 21 points including three out of 10/21 threes of the Italian side in the first leg of the FIBA Europe Cup Semifinals home-and-away series. Corey Walden scored 26 points for the hosts.
The other remaining Italian club Pallacanestro Varese suffered a 89-66 home defeat to S. Oliver Wurzburg. Denis Wucherer’s side gained the commanding lead behind Jordan Hulls’ game-high 19 points. Three more players scored in double-digits including Cameron Wells that ended up with 18. Tyler Cain had 15 and Thomas Scrubb 14 for the home team.
The two winning sides will have the home-court advantage next week, on April 17th. The finalists will meet in another two-game series on April 24th and May 1st.
