The 2022 edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup tipped off with Flamengo and Hereda San Pablo Burgos securing a spot in the Final while the Lakeland Magic and Zamalek will clash for third place.
Both semifinal winners were rather convincing, starting with Flamengo which logged a 94-71 over the Magic. The Brazilian team had six players in double-digits and broke the 20-point margin early in the third quarter.
Yago Santos was the leading scorer with 18 points while Franco Balbi had an all-around display with 17 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and two steals for a total of 25 PIR.
Lucas Martinez scored 14, Joao Paulo Batista and Vitor Faverani 12 each while Dar Tucker completed the double-digit members with ten points.
On the opposing side, Hassani Gravett put up 16 points, eight assists, and six rebounds while Jeff Dowtin also scored 16 points. The recent addition to the roster and the only European in this matchup, Janis Timma, had six points on 2-3 from three.
Meanwhile, San Pablo Burgos got a 78-61 win against the African representative Zamalek that had plenty of support from the stands in Cairo.

Jarell Eddie led the way with 17 points (all of it in the first half) on 5-11 from deep while also grabbing eight rebounds. Landry Nnoko logged a double-double with 13 points and ten boards followed by Tarik Phillip with 13 and Julian Gamble with ten points.
For Zamalek, Mikhael Alexander Mckinney scored 15 and Edgar Sosa 12 points.
The tournament will continue on Sunday, February 13, with the third-place clash between the Lakeland Magic and Zamalek at 16:00 CET while Flamengo and Hereda San Pablo Burgos will face off at 19:00 CET.
