NBA G League United opened the 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup with a win over Quimsa in Group B. Now, the continental champions clashed in the first match of Group A.
European Basketball Champions League winners, Unicaja, faced Basketball Africa League champion Petro de Luanda. The Malaga team began their campaign for the Intercontinental Cup with a convincing 94-78 victory.
Tyler Kalinoski led the scoring for the winning side with 16 points, while Dylan Osetkowski had the highest PIR of 22, thanks to an all-around performance of 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
Nihad Djedovic also scored 14 points, while Jonathan Barreiro added 13, and Kameron Taylor contributed 11 points.
For the losing side from Angola, Clesio Castro had 13 points and nine rebounds, while Yanick Moreira and Patrick Gardner each added 12 points.
