Kendrick Perry: “Outside of the NBA, Europe is the best competition in the world”

On the opening day of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup, G-League representative Juan Toscano-Anderson expressed a bold statement regarding the competition level of the second tier in American basketball.

“We want to be aggressive and make a statement. I believe the G League is the second-best league in the world, and we want to show that”, he said after his team beat BCL Americas champs of Quimsa.

Today, following Unicaja Malaga’s second consecutive easy rout over the opponents as they beat BCL Asia champions of Al Riyadi Beirut, the team’s leading scorer Kendrick Perry heavily disagreed with his countryman’s take.

“Outside of the NBA, we feel like Europe is respectfully the best competition in the world. You stack us up against anybody, it doesn’t matter. Like I said, we control what we control. And that’s how we internally approach the game. I think we’ll be alright”, Unicaja’s No.55 said.

Previously, Kendrick Perry was asked who he wanted to take on in the final of the competition, once the reigning Basketball Champions League winners already booked their spot. “No preference for us”, Montenegro’s own said. They could face either Tasmania JackJumpers or NBA G-League United.
