Unicaja Malaga started the 2024-25 season the way they ended the last one. The Spanish team proved their quality by beating the G League United in the final of the Intercontinental Cup with ease (75-60).
The Spanish team triumphed in Singapore by playing their brand of basketball and Dylan Osetkowski led the way with 15 points. Tyler Kalinoski added 13, Yakuba Sima had 11, and Kameron Taylor scored 10.
The G League United led only once at the start of the game (3-2) and trailed even by 22 points (71-49) in a game that proved once more than outside the NBA, Europe has the best level of professional basketball in the world.
And while talent-wise in the cases of individual players, the point of Juan Toscano-Anderson might be debatable, the G League United which was created to represent the league in competitions outside the US, couldn’t rattle Unicaja.
The former NBA champion tried to wake up his teammates during a timeout to no result.
Jordan Bowden with 20 points was the scorer of the losing side, which shot just 30% from the field against the well-organized Malaga defense.
The NBL champions, Tasmania JackJumpers finished in third place of the tournament.
