In the second part of Eurohoops’ “Road To Rio” feature, the players of Basketball Champions League defending champion AEK Athens talk about the upcoming FIBA Intercontinental Cup Final Four t that will take place in Rio, Brazil on 15-17 February.
As AEK captain Dusan Sakota puts it, there’s a certain responsibility that comes with participation in the tournament: “In a way, we are the ambassadors of European basketball in this competition. And we want to play for everybody, in that sense.”
“You definitely want to compete for the team and the jersey you’re wearing. I’m thinking it’s going to be the same intensity like last year when we played in the Basketball Champions League Final our,” comments AEK center Vince Hunter, one of the frontrunners for winning BCL MVP this season.
