Troubles keep adding up for the Serbian selection and head coach Svetislav Pesic, as captain Milos Teodosic could miss the June-July FIBA World Cup qualifiers, mozzartsport.com’s Djordje Matic reports.
Teodosic’s Virtus Bologna is one win away from sweeping Tortona to reach the Italian LegaBasket finals, a best-of-seven series that could be stretched up to June 20 when Game 7 is scheduled.
In the meantime, Serbia faces Latvia on the road on June 30 and hosts Belgium on July 3 to close the first round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers. With such limited time to rest, and given Teodosic’s injuries throughout the season, and the upcoming EuroBasket in September, it’s expected that he will miss the first summer window.
Pesic is also expected to lack Bogdan Bogdanovic from his squad due to his knee injury, and it’s uncertain whether or not the rest of the Serbian NT NBA stars will be able to join the selection with the restricting insurance policy between FIBA and the NBA.
