The 12 players available for Greece’s away game against Serbia were revealed by the Hellenic Basketball Federation Wednesday. The list includes Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Considered doubtful to play, both Giorgos Papagiannis and Ioannis Papapetrou were officially ruled out of the 2023 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers Group I opener in Belgrade. Panagiotis Kalaitzakis and Giannis Kouzeloglou will miss the trip as well.

The team coached by Dimitris Itoudis carries a 3-1 W-L tally from the previous round, looking to improve to 4-1 in Serbia. After Thursday’s matchup on the road, Greece will welcome Belgium in Athens Sunday. Coming up next will be the 2022 EuroBasket with the aforementioned injured players slated as candidates to be part of the final squad selected by Itoudis.

Greece’s remaining selections:

Dimitris Agravanis
Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)
Kostas Antetokounmpo (LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne)
Thanasis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)

Down to the 12-man roster and in Group C of the preliminary round, the Greek Freak and international teammates will take on Croatia, Italy, Great Britain, Ukraine, and Estonia in Milan between 2 and 8 September. Ranking first through fourth would punch in a ticket to the knockout stage of the tournament in Berlin. The EuroBasket gold medal game is scheduled to be held on 18 September.
