Real Madrid newcomer Dzanan Musa was rushed to the hospital after hurting his neck. He was later released and cleared to further represent Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers and ensuing 2022 EuroBasket.
Musa, 23, initially hurt his neck and underwent surgery three months ago. Dealing with the threat of an early ending to his 2021-22 campaign at Rio Breogan, he returned to action in May and was named season MVP in Spain’s Liga Endesa. An additional reward followed as he inked a two-year contract to join powerhouse Real Madrid.
In the offseason, he joined Bosnia-Herzegovina for the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers. Opening the schedule of Group K of the European Qualifiers on the road yesterday, he registered 19 points, six rebounds, and two assists in the loss to Montenegro, overcoming a blow to the head early in the contest. Partially due to the recent surgery, he ended up in the hospital to undergo tests and got a clean bill of health, as widely reported with confirmation by the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The former Brooklyn Net is expected to play versus France in Sarajevo Saturday. Down to 3-4, the national team of his country is on the wrong end of the standings, a couple of wins behind the top three spots leading to next summer’s World Cup.
The Dragons will also participate in EuroBasket competing in Cologne’s Group B. Hungary, Germany, Slovenia, France, and Lithuania are the teams to beat between 1 and 7 September.
