Montenegro calls 24 players, including Vucevic, Simonovic for upcoming World Cup

The FIBA World Cup is a little over two months away, and national teams that have qualified are gradually announcing their preliminary player lists.

Team USA’s roster is taking shape, and Montenegro has recently unveiled its preliminary list of 24 players who have been called up to commence preparations with the national team. Among the 24 names, two NBA players stand out: Nikola Vucevic of the Chicago Bulls and Marko Simonovic.

Coach Bosko Radovic once again faces the task of choosing between two naturalized players, Kendrick Perry from Unicaja and Jonah Radebauh from Valencia, both of whom have made it to the preliminary list.

The listed players include: Nikola Ivanović (Crvena Zvezda), Kendrick Perry (Unicaja), Igor Drobnjak (Buducnost Voli), Balsa Zivanovic (Mornar), Masan Vrbica (Sutjeska), Luka Bogavac (Mega), Petar Popovic (Buducnost Voli), Vladimir Mihailovic (Mornar), Fedor Zugic (Ulm), Jonah Radebaugh (Valencia), Dino Radoncic (Zaragoza), Andrija Slavkovic (SC Derby), Zoran Vučeljić (SC Derby), Djordjije Jovanovic (Partizan), Emir Hadzibegovic (SC Derby), Radosav Spasojevic (Krka), Andrija Grbovic (Mega), Aleksa Ilic (Budućnost Voli), Bojan Dubljevic (Valencia), Nikola Vucevic (Chicago Bulls), Nemanja Radovic (Murcia), Marko Simonovic (Chicago Bulls), Zoran Nikolic (Igokea), and Vasilije Bacovic (SC Derby).

The Montenegrin national team is set to gather on July 21, and their preparation plan includes friendly matches against France and Serbia on August 2 and 5 respectively. Radovic’s selected team will also participate in a tournament in Georgia, where they will face the hosts and Iran.

Montenegro has been placed in Group D (Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay) alongside Egypt, Mexico, and Lithuania, with their first match scheduled against Mexico on the opening day.
